Atalanta and Italy international defender Giorgio Scalvini has revealed that he is a long-time admirer of Inter Milan defender Alessandro Bastoni and Chelsea’s Brazilian legend Thiago Silva.

The 19 year old made these revelations in an extended sit-down interview with Italian media outlet TuttoMercatoWeb where he spoke on a wide variety of issues, including about his future.

When asked about who he looks up to as a player both as a child and as an adult, Scalvini confirmed that Chelsea defender Thiago Silva was his idol growing up adding that he also admires Inter Milan’s Alessandro Bastoni.

“I always liked him when I was a child and I watched the Serie A and he was at AC Milan. I really like how he acts on the pitch, he is a leader with great spirit and charisma” Scalvini said of Thiago Silva.

“But I also followed Bastoni a lot as well, given he was here at Atalanta. At youth team level many considered him to be an example to follow.

“I used to stop and watch him play, when he played in the Primavera team” Scalvini continued.

Linked To Chelsea, Manchester United & Bayern Munich

Scalvini has been linked with a move to many of Europe’s top clubs including Manchester United, Chelsea and Bayern Munich in recent months.

He has also been linked to Inter Milan and Juventus but those rumors have died down given the hefty transfer transfer fee he will command if and when he leaves Atalanta.

However, Scalvini claims that he is only focused on the present and Atalanta and doesn’t take transfer rumors too seriously.

“[These things] could make one happy but I just read these things in the passing and that’s it. I am concentrated on where I am, on Atalanta.

“No-one knows what the future may have reserved for me, I have to only focus on doing well at Atalanta” Scalvini concludes.
