Qatar Airways are currently in pole position to replace DigitalBits as the Inter Milan main shirt sponsor over next season.

This according to today’s print edition of Turin based daily newspaper Tuttosport, as reported via Italian Inter news outlet FcInter1908.

According to the report, in recent months a delegation from Doha representing Qatar Airways have been to Inter’s headquarters in Milan for talks.

The report adds further that Qatar Airways are currently the main candidate to replace DigitalBits as the Nerazzurri’s main shirt sponsor.

However, the talks have not reached an advanced stage yet, mainly due to the distance between the parties regarding the overall evaluation of the sponsorship deal, as is the case with all other interested potential sponsors.

Presentation Of Next Season’s Shirt Postponed

Due to difficulties with agreeing terms with a main shirt sponsor, Inter have had to postpone the presentation of next season’s shirt, something that the club usually does in the month of May.

Given the current situation, Tuttosport adds, the presentation has been postponed to mid July, at which point the Nerazzurri believe they will have secured a sponsor to go on the front of next season’s shirts.

This situation has arisen, after Inter Milan are yet to receive payment under a four year sponsorship deal the club has signed with DigitalBits, which was reportedly worth €85 million in total.

Inter then decided to remove DigitalBits logo from the front of the Nerazzurri shirt ahead of the Serie A match against Lazio this past weekend which the Nerazzurri won 3-1.

This prompted DigitalBits to respond to these reports claiming that the partnerships with Inter and Roma were through Zytara Labs, adding that in the future they will enter into more financially sustainable partnerships.

“The sponsorship contracts concerning the exposure of the Digitalbits brand with the football clubs AS Roma and Inter have been concluded through Zytara Labs.”

“We have undertaken a proactive process of redefining the kinds of partnerships that involve DigitalBits in the future, in line with the objectives of economic sustainability and use of the blockchain technology” the statement concluded.
