Marcelo Brozovic could be benched for Hakan Calhanoglu and Henrikh Mkhitaryan by Inter Milan coach Simone Inzaghi in tonight’s Champions League semifinal first leg against AC Milan.

This according to Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia reporter Andrea Paventi live on air moments ago, as reported via Milan based Inter Milan news-site FcInterNews.

According to the report, Inter coach Simone Inzaghi is yet to decide on which two midfielders to field next to Italy Euro 202o winner Nicolo Barella.

Earlier reports suggested that the former Lazio coach was leaning towards starting Croatian midfield dynamo Marcelo Brozovic next to former AC Milan midfielder Calhanoglu.

Marcelo Brozovic Or Hakan Calhanoglu?

Now, however, reports claim Henrikh Mkhitaryan will start next to Barella and only one of Calhanoglu and Brozovic will start, playing in front of the back three in the deep-lying midfield play-maker role.

Aside from that, the former Lazio coach isn’t expected to make too many changes to the starting lineup that defeated Roma on the weekend except for in attack.

The report confirms that Edin Dzeko will start next to Lautaro Martinez up front with, in-form Belgian international striker Romelu Lukaku starting on the bench.

In defence, it’s an all Italian national team back three with Matteo Darmian and Alessandro Bastoni playing on either side of Francesco Acerbi.

Dutch international wingback Denzel Dumfries is set to start on the right with Italy international Federico Dimarco starting on the left.

Cameroon goalkeeper André Onana will start in goal relegating Inter captain Samir Handanovic to the bench, the report concludes.
