Italian journalist Giancarlo Padovan believes there is nothing surprising about the remarka made by Beppe Marotta concerning the future of Simone Inzaghi as Inter Milan coach.
Writing in his column for Italian news outlet Calciomercato.com, the journalist gave the view that the Nerazzurri CEO stance could hardly have been different when the recent form that Inzaghi has had the team in is taken into consideration.
Yesterday Marotta opened up about the future of Simone Inzaghi as head coach at Inter. The CEO was frank in stating that as far as he’s concerned, he expected the 47-year-old to stay on.
This came amid a lot of speculation about the coach’s future at the Nerazzurri. Throughout the season, as Inter’s form has fluctuated, so have the rumours and speculations about Inzaghi.
On the other hand, when things are going well, it becomes more difficult to justify sacking Inzaghi. From Padovan’s point of view, it is only logical that Marotta expressed himself as he did.
No Surprise That Marotta Backs Inzaghi At Inter Milan
Padovan writes that “In my opinion, the day after a semifinal first leg that brought Inter closer to the Champions League final, the only possible answer [from Marotta] would have been that Inzaghi is staying next season.
“Because he did well and has another year on his contract with Inter.
“I know, many Inter fans reproach Simone for losing the Scudetto last season.
“And the fact that he hasn’t competed for the league title this season.
“But what about three derby wins and the concrete possibility of challenging City or Real Madrid in front of the eyes of the whole world?”
“No, for me there is only one way forward,” he continues.
“To thank Inzaghi and invite anyone who judged him to be inadequate for Inter to apologize to him.”
“Regardless, of course, of the return derby and how the two finals end up going.”
