The agent of Inter-linked Bayer Leverkusen defender Piero Hincapie makes no secret that the Ecuadorian is attracting interest.

Speaking to Italian news outlet SportItalia.com, the 21-year-old’s agent Manuel Ramon addressed transfer speculation around his client.

Hincapie has been something of a breakout player for Leverkusen this season.

The Ecuadorian has starred for the German team as they’ve recovered from a bad start to the season to climb the Bundesliga table.

Moreover, Hincapie’s talents have also been on show in the Europa League where Leverkusen are facing Roma in the semifinals.

Hincapie’s form for Xabi Alonso’s team has meant that he has attracted no shortage of attention from other clubs.

It is quite possible that the 21-year-old will be playing somewhere other than the BayArena in the next season or two.

Inter have been reported to have lined up Hincapie as a possible replacement for Alessandro Bastoni should the 23-year-old leave.

Piero Hincapie On Italian Teams’ Radars Including Inter Milan

Given the interest in Hincapie’s signature, the player’s agent has intervened on the matter.

Asked by SportItalia about the situation, the defender’s agent Ramon said that “There’s a lot of interest in Piero from several countries, including Italy.”

Asked about Inter specifically, Ramon was a bit more effusive in his response.

“We’ve received requests from plenty of teams,” the agent said.

FIFA World Cup Star For Ecuador In Qatar

Playing for his national side, Hincapie really made a name for himself with his performances at the World Cup in Qatar during the winter.

Ecuador were something of a surprise package at the tournament.

Whilst the South Americans missed out on the knockouts, they did so only narrowly.

The performances of a number of Ecuador’s young players in Qatar drew praise, including Hincapie.

Among those to give his backing to Hincapie was ex-Inter forward Antonio Cassano.

The legendary former Italy international suggested that the Leverkusen man should replace Bastoni at the Nerazzurri.
