Inter Milan are optimistic that defender Alessandro Bastoni will sign a contract extension beyond the end of next June.
This according to today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, via FCInterNews.
As things stand, Bastoni’s contract with Inter runs out at the end of June 2024.
However, the Nerazzurri have made agreeing a new deal with the 23-year-old well before then a major priority. The former Atalanta and Parma defender is certainly not a player who Inter would want to risk losing on a free transfer.
Should the contract talks with Bastoni and his representatives break down, the Nerazzurri could sell the 23-year-old rather than risk losing him on a free transfer next summer.
Manchester City, PSG, and Juventus all consider the Inter Milan defender a target.
However, according to the Corriere it does not look likely that things will reach that point.
Inter Milan Confident In Alessandro Bastoni Contract Talks
Nerazzurri CEO Beppe Marotta spoke about Bastoni’s situation. The executive made clear that he feels virtually certain that the 23-year-old will put pen to paper on a new deal.
According to the Corriere, there is a clear basis for the CEO’s words.
Whilst nothing is worked out yet, talks between Inter and Bastoni have been progressing well.
The Corriere report however that Bastoni and his representatives have been asking for a new deal worth €6.5 million net per season.
The Nerazzurri could get to where the defender wants with an offer worth €5 million net per season plus add-ons.
The next few weeks will be decisive.
Inter will look to get the negotiations with Bastoni to their conclusion. The club want to tie the defender down on a new deal as soon as possible.
According to the Corriere, Inter are confident in extending Bastoni’s contract.
