AC Milan superstar Rafael Leao is pushing to be fit to play against Inter Milan tomorrow.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInter1908, who report that the 23-year-old Portuguese international is back in training and doing absolutely everything to be ready for tomorrow’s Champions League match.

Leao had not part to play against Inter in the first leg of the Champions League semifinals on Wednesday.

The 23-year-old had picked up an adductor injury in a Serie A match against Lazio over the weekend. The Rossoneri had hoped to have Leao back, but he was not even fit to appear on the bench.

Leao’s absence was a real blow for Milan.

Rossoneri legend Clarence Seedorf observed how the team had to change their whole style of play in the Portuguese’s absence.

Leao has proven to be the difference-maker all throughout his time at Milan. This has particularly been the case across the past two seasosn.

The former Lille and Sporting CP man was decisive to the Rossoneri winning the Serie A title last season. Then, he played a crucial role in Milan getting past Napoli to reach the Champions League semifinals.

Rafael Leao To Give Inter Milan Something Different To Think About

According to the Gazzetta, Leao is likely to be back tomorrow.

The forward’s coach Stefano Pioli had already predicted he’ll be ready for the second leg match.

Now, the 23-year-old is back in full training with the rest of the Milan squad. He made his return yesterday and completed a session today.

It will remain to be seen whether Leao is fit enough to start the match, or if Pioli will use him off the bench. Moreover, Leao will be working hard to get back to full match-fitness.

What is clear, though, is that a fit Leao will give Inter something new to think about. The Rossoneri are a different team with the Portuguese megastar’s pace and technical ability in attack.
