Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku can remain at Inter next season. However, three conditions would have to be met first.

This according to today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, via FCInterNews, who report that Chelsea will have to allow the Belgian to leave, agree to another loan deal, and likely accept a lower loan fee than last summer.

Lukaku’s future at Inter is still very much up in the air.

The 30-year-old has done a lot to stake a claim for himself for next season. After it had looked like his injuries and poor form would mean that Inter would send him back to Chelsea, Lukaku is back to his best.

Accordingly, the Corriere report, Inter could definitely decide to keep Lukaku.

However, there is nothing like a guarantee that the Nerazzurri will find an agreement with Chelsea. The Premier League club’s intentions are not yet clear.

Chelsea Must Open Up To Terms To Loan Romelu Lukaku To Inter Again

The key question, the Corriere reports, is whether or not the Blues will play ball with Inter.

Nerazzurri CEO Beppe Marotta has confirmed that when Lukaku’s loan ends, he’ll go back to Stamford Bridge. Then, the clubs can potentially try to work out an agreement to send him back to Milan.

Last summer, the Londoners agreed to a paid loan deal after Lukaku pushed to make the return to Inter.

Chelsea, who had paid €115 million to sign the Belgian in 2021, allowed him to join Inter for one season. The Nerazzurri paid a €8 million loan fee.

This time around, the first question is whether or not Chelsea will even want to let Lukaku leave.

Incoming coach Mauricio Pochettino could decide he wants to keep Lukaku. However, the player’s own desire is very clear, and he wants to stay at Inter.

Then, the Blues must open up to another loan deal. Inter cannot afford to sign Lukaku permanently.

Lastly, the Corriere reports, Inter will be disinclined to bring the striker back at the same loan fee as last summer. As such, they would need Chelsea to accept a lower fee.
