Nerazzurri defender Francesco Acerbi feels that Inter Milan have everything to lose this evening against AC Milan.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia, via FCInterNews, the 35-year-old stressed not thinking about the first leg of the Champions League semifinal tie as they play for a place in the final.

Inter are now just ninety minutes plus stoppage time away from booking their place in European club football’s biggest match.

If the Nerazzurri don’t let their two-goal first leg advantage slip, they’ll be in Istanbul in a month’s time. There they could face Manchester City or Real Madrid for a chance to be European champions.

That two-goal advantage could be a lot more tenuous than it seems, however.

Even one Milan goal would be enough to quickly change the dynamic of the whole tie. Moreover, the Rossoneri are likely to be able to call on their danger man Rafael Leao.

Francesco Acerbi Wants Inter Milan To Ignore First Leg Advantage

Accordingly, defender Acerbi thinks Inter must put their first leg win from Wednesday out of their minds entirely.

“We have to think about trying to play an even better match than the first leg,” he said. “We can’t think about that result, because we’re coming up against a Milan side who have a lot of pride.”

“It’s a an entirely separate match,” he stress.

“It’s these kinds of matches where you have everything to lose, and so we have to stay even more switched-on than in the first leg.”

Acerbi also gave his thoughts on the danger posed by Milan forward Leao.

Rossoneri coach Stefano Pioli has stated that he expects to have the Portuguese international back at his disposal for this evening’s match.

“Leao is the most representative player that this Milan team have,” the Inter defender said. “And perhaps the best. Having him gives more security to his teammates.”
