Save the date – on June 10 Inter will face their date with destiny in Istanbul, taking on one of either Real Madrid or Man City in the final of the Champions League.

This is highlighted in today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews.

Inter are ninety minutes away from European glory. A first Champions League crown in thirteen years has never felt more within reach than it does now.

An emphatic 3-0 aggregate win over AC Milan in the semifinals caps off an incredible journey so far in the competition. Inter have also seen off Barcelona, Porto, and Benfica to get here.

However, the challenge will get even greater in the final, of that there is little doubt.

Inter have faced top European sides to get where they are, but arguably still have the absolute cream of the continent ahead of them rather than behind.

Real Madrid Or Man City Await Inter Milan In Istanbul

Inter won’t have to wait long to find out who await them in Istanbul on June 10.

Real Madrid will travel to the Etihad to face Manchester City in the other semifinal second leg this evening.

The first leg of that tie had been a frenetic, tightly-contested 1-1 draw at the Bernabeu.

What was clear from the first leg is that both Los Blancos and the Cityzens are two of Europe’s most formidable teams.

Real won the competition last season, their fifth crown in just nine years.

Meanwhile, City have never won the Champions League, but Pep Guardiola’s men are on the march to yet another Premier League title. In the eyes of many, it is only a matter of time before they translate their English dominance to Europe’s top club competition.

Accordingly, Inter may well be seen as rank outsiders against either team they could face in Istanbul.

Nevertheless, plenty of teams this season have learned the hard way not to underestimate this Nerazzurri in Europe.
