Defender Milan Skriniar is pushing to be fit in time to appear for Inter Milan in the Champions League final.

This according to Italian news outlet Gazzetta.it. According to the Gazzetta, the 28-year-old is doing everything he can to be available in the squad to face Manchester City in Istanbul next month.

Skriniar is still out as he recovers from his back surgery, and will not be back until at least the Champions League final.

The Slovakian received surgery to correct a back issue that he’d been dealing with since the end of January. There has never been any doubt that the recover timeline would rule him out of the rest of the season unless Inter reach the Champions League final.

However, the Nerazzurri have done just that. Inter booked their place in the final in Istanbul by beating city rivals AC Milan in the semifinals.

The Nerazzurri will face Mancheseter City on June 10.

Milan Skriniar Could Play For Inter Milan Vs Man City

Now, it is something of a race of time for Skriniar to be ready for the final against City.

The Slovakian is back in Milan working on his recovery, after having gotten surgery in France.

Skriniar is now doing everything that he can to get back fit for the final.

It is true that the Slovakian is not ending Inter on the best of terms. CEO Beppe Marotta admits that there is some lingering bitterness regarding the manner in which Skriniar has decided not to extend his contract.

However, the former Sampdoria still has the chance to end his time at the club on a high note.

The Gazzetta report that Skriniar spoke to his teammates in the locker room after yesterday’s win over Milan.

There is no chance of the 28-year-old being fit for the final. However, he has still expressed the hope of being fit for Istanbul.
