Inter Milan wingback Robin Gosens feels that the Nerazzurri are going to the Champions League final in Istanbul with every intention of winning it all.

Speaking to InterTV after the Nerazzurri booked their spot in the biggest match in European club football, via FCInterNews, the German reacted to the win over AC Milan and outlined the team’s ambitions.

A few months ago, the idea of winning the Champions League final will have seemed like a distant dream to Inter.

Now, not so much.

There will still be an immense amount of work to do, of course. The Nerazzurri will have to try and overcome one of Manchester City or Real Madrid in the final next month. Either would be perhaps the toughest match that Inter have faced all season.

However, it is something that now feels within reach.

As Nerazzurri President Steven Zhang was keen to stress, anything can happen over ninety minutes in football.

Robin Gosens: Inter Milan In It To Win It In Champions League

“I struggle to find the right words,” Gosens said of getting to the final. “It’s such a massive thing that I still have to digest it.”

“We’ve something amazing as a group, it’s a dream for anyone to reach the Champions League final.”

“The adrenaline is still very high and it will last all night,” Gosens went on. “I’ll struggle to sleep but that’s only right.”

Gosens called the final “A dream come true, we worked hard to get here. We’ve had a difficult season, but if we look back on the journey we’ve had in the Champions League we’re here with merit.”

“We’ve always believed in it, in the dressing room we’ve always said we have a strong squad,” the 28-year-old added. “We haven’t always shown it and we’re sorry about that, but we’ve always believed it.”

“I’m very proud of this team,” he added.

“Throughout the season, the strength to me has been the group,” Gosens said. “We’ve always been close to each other even in difficult moments.”

The wingback looked back that “We’ve spoken frankly with each other, without ever backing down.”

“We’ve been honest, and that’s made the difference in the long run.”

As to which of City or Real he’d rather face in the final, Gosens replied that “I’m struggling right now to choose a team to face in the final, they’re both strong and it won’t make a difference for us.”

“But we’re deservedly in the final, and if we’ve reached this point it means that we can play to win.”

“We will go to Istanbul to take the last step,” Gosens finished.
