Legendary former Nerazzurri goalkeeper Walter Zenga feels that Simone Inzaghi has done very well at Inter Milan.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia, via FCInter1908, the former keeper praised the current Inter coach for maintaining his status and the team’s balance despite difficulties and criticisms.

Inzaghi has been under fire for a lot of this season.

The Nerazzurri’s many wobbles in form in the league have led to suggestions that he could be sacked.

Moreover, this has threatened to become a major distraction for a team who’ve already been struggling at times.

However, Inzaghi has responded to his criticisms. Inter President Steven Zhang has confirmed that the 47-year-old will stay on next season.

The ex-Lazio boss has never let the negativity get him, or his team, down.

In the view of former goalkeeper Zenga, this has been important. The legendary ex-Inter man feels that Inzaghi has always maintained a certain status within the team.

Zenga: Simone Inzaghi Has Maintained Balance At Inter Milan

“What Simone has done well is always maintain the same focus,” Zenga said. “Always the same manner of being, the same kindness, he hs always maintained his status.”

“He’s kept a balance” the former keeper argued. “He gave his team peace of mind.”

“He had courage in his ideas, he’s rotated the players following his ideas even when he’s had everyone at his disposal.”

Of the Champions League final against Manchester City, Zenga said that “They’ll study how to perfectly set themselves up in both phases, because City attack in one way and defend in another.”

“The key is Stones,” he identified the versatile Englishman as important to City. “In midfield or in his own quarter of the pitch.”

“Real had problems with Grealish and Gundogan,” he noted.

“City press very aggressively, and when they counterattack they all come at you.”

Zenga predicted that “I think Dzeko will play, as he helps link midfield and team.”
