Inter Milan President Steven Zhang has confirmed that Simone Inzaghi will stay as coach next season.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster SportItalia following the Nerazzurri’s Champions League victory over AC Milan, via FCInterNews, the Nerazzurri President made clear that Inzaghi will be at the helm for next campaign.

Inzaghi has given a big response to his critics.

The coach has been under fire due to the Nerazzurri’s at times very poor league form.

This has led to reports that the 47-year-old former Lazio boss could be sacked. The likes of Bologna’s Thiago Motta and Brighton and Hove Albion’s Roberto De Zerbi have been rumoured as potential replacements.

Should Inzaghi be on his way, Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly interested in his signature.

However, all of that kind of speculation has certainly been put on the backburner. The Nerazzurri have reached the final of the Champions League, a massive achievement for club and coach.

It has already reported that Inzaghi has been looking likelier and likelier to stay given the team’s excellent form in the run-in. Inter CEO Beppe Marotta confirmed as much.

Moreover, President Zhang told Sky Sport Italia that he expects the coach to be at Inter for “many seasons” to come. The President was full of praise for the coach’s calmness and the job that he’s done.

Inter President Zhang: Simone Inzaghi Stays Next Season

The President has intervened seemingly decisively on the subject of Inzaghi’s future. In spite of all the criticism and speculation that the 47-year-old has been the subject, Zhang has made clear that he’s staying on.

Asked about it, the President stated that “There’s no reason for us to change coach.”

“We’re preparing to start a third season with,” he said of Inzaghi.

“It’s difficult to describe the satisfaction we feel,” Zhang said of reaching the Champions League final.

“I’ve been here for seven seasons,” he looked back. “Our goal is always to win.”

“We avenged what happened twenty years ago,” he said of the Nerazzurri going out to Milan in the Champions League semifinals in 2003. “This is a night I’ll remember for the rest of my life.”

Zhang also noted that “I haven’t spoken to my father yet. I’m about to call him.”

Zhang Reveals Which Inter Milan Star Always Believed This Was Possible

The Inter President also revealed which Inter player always believed that the team could reach this point.

“The only one who believed in the Champions League at the start of the season was Lukaku,” Zhang said. “Since the start of the summer.”
