Legendary former Inter Milan, Real Madrid, Roma, and Sampdoria forward Antonio Cassano feels that Simone Inzaghi still has to go as Nerazzurri coach, even in spite of reaching the Champions League final.

Speaking on Christian Vieri’s Twitch channel, via FCInter1908, Cassano doubled down on his criticism of Inzaghi.

Cassano has been one of Inzaghi’s most outspoken critics this season.

Whilst the former forward has given credit where it’s due, such as for the away win over Benfica, he has broadly argued that the 47-year-old has not done a good job as coach.

Cassano has not been the only person to look at Inzaghi’s work unfavourably this season. The Nerazzurri’s runs of bad form, and eleven losses in Serie A, have made sure of that.

However, the former Lazio coach has won over many of his critics in the past few weeks.

Reaching the Champions League final has certainly looked to be a perfect response from the coach.

Cassano, however, is still not convinced.

Antonio Cassano Doubles Down – Simone Inzaghi Shouldn’t Stay Inter Coach

“Inter, along with Juventus, are by far the strongest team in Serie A,” Cassano argued.

“They deserve to be in the final, but there’s a problem – they’re godawful in the league.”

“Last season they threw away a title, this season they’re twenty points back from Napoli,” Cassano noted.

“I’m not jumping on the Inzaghi bandwagon, for me he still has to go.”

Cassano suggested that “Anything can happen in the final, but Inzaghi isn’t good enough for Inter.”

“If Inter win the Champions League, which I hope for, it just makes the league an even bigger disaster,” he argued.

“He did a great job in the Champions League, but he has a strong squad.”

“I’ll give him credit for one thing though,” Cassano noted. “He had courage to put Darmian in place of Skriniar.”
