Inter Milan CEO Beppe Marotta wants changes to limit broadcasters from changing the Serie A schedule around next season.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews, who report that the Nerazzurri CEO wants change after the club’s intense frustration with the rescheduling of their clash with Atalanta next weekend.

Inter CEO Marotta was scathing in his reaction to the decision of the Lega Serie A to move their match against Atalanta to next Saturday.

The match had initially been scheduled for the 18.30 CET slot on Sunday.

However, broadcaster DAZN had wanted the kickoff to be moved. The reason for this was that it would conflict with the Formula One Grand Prix.

DAZN decided upon the match between Juventus and AC Milan to be the marquee match for the weekend at 20.45 CET on Sunday.

Accordingly, the Nerazzurri’s match against Atalanta at the San Siro was moved to Saturday.

Beppe Marotta Expects Serie A Reforms To Stop Schedule Changes

Inter are furious with the decision to move their match against Atalanta.

The club had expected until a couple days ago that the match would take place on Sunday.

This was fine with the Nerazzurri. Particularly, the Gazzetta notes, given that striker Lautaro Martinez’s wedding is on Monday.

However, the Saturday kickoff means that the team have one fewer day of rest following their Coppa Italia against Fiorentina this coming Wednesday.

Given that the match against La Viola could well go to extra time, that is hardly ideal.

Marotta blasted the schedule change for potentially endangering player safety in remarks yesterday. The physical stress put on the players is already enormous in this packed period in the fixture list.

For next season, Marotta wants to make sure that situations like this are avoided. According to the Gazzetta, the CEO has made it a clear goal to place limits on broadcasters interfering with the Serie A schedule.
