Striker Romelu Lukaku wants to overtake Edin Dzeko in the Inter Milan starting eleven for upcoming finals against Fiorentina in the Coppa Italia and Manchester City in the Champions League.

This according to today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, via FCInterNews. The newspaper report that the Belgian wants to get ahead of Dzeko as the first-choice in attack as the team compete for silverware.

Lukaku is expected to start against Napoli in Serie A this evening. He is expected to lead the line alongside Joaquin Correa.

This would be in keeping with the policy of rotating the squad, and particularly the attack, in recent weeks.

However, so far the Belgian has not started a Champions League knockout match. Moreover, Lukaku was on the bench in both legs of the Coppa Italia semifinal against Juventus last month.

Edin Dzeko has been the man to start knockout matches since the start of April.

However, Lukaku is determined to play for his chances.

First, the Corriere reports, Lukaku wants to start against Fiorentina this Wednesday.

Then, the Belgian striker wants to start against Manchester City on June 10.

Lukaku believes that despite this not having been a stellar season for him, he can end it in the best way possible. The 30-year-old wants to be decisive in the hunt for silverware.
