Edin Dzeko is the favourite to start in attack for Inter Milan in Wednesday evening’s Coppa Italia final against Fiorentina.

This according to today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, via FCInterNews, who report that the Bosnian former Roma and Manchester City man is ahead of Romelu Lukaku to be in the Nerazzurri’s starting eleven to face La Viola.

Inter coach Simone Inzaghi will have a decision to make in attack on Wednesday at the Stadio Olimpico.

The coach has fairly diligently stuck to a policy of rotation in recent matches. Nowhere has this been more evident than in the strike partnership up font.

Inzaghi has sent out Lukaku and Joaquin Correa during the weekend. Then in midweek, typically in a cup knockout matches, Dzeko and Lautaro Martinez have been the starting pair.

However, Lukaku will be pushing for a starting spot at the Olimpico on Wednesday.

The Belgian could feel that he’s done enough in recent appearances to earn a look in ahead of Dzeko.

According to the Corriere, however, Inzaghi is likely to stick with the Bosnian.

Edin Dzeko Ahead Of Romelu Lukaku To Start For Inter Vs Fiorentina

Lukaku has now scored six goals since the start of April in Serie A after his goal against Napoli yesterday evening. The 30-year-old has also made three assists for his teammates during that period.

Accordingly, the Corriere suggest, the striker has sent Inzaghi a clear message.

Nevertheless, the newspaper report, Dzeko is still likely to be the striker to start against La Viola.

Inzaghi has stuck with having the team play a certain way during knockout matches.

Former Man City and Roma man Dzeko’s technical quality and ability to drop into midfield have been key to the Nerazzurri’s approach in these matches.

Accordingly, Dzeko looks set to start on Wednesday.
