Referee Massimiliano Irrati will be the referee in charge of Wednesday evening’s Coppa Italia final between Inter Milan and Fiorentina.

This is confirmed by an official announcement of the officiating crew for the fixture made by the Italian FA, via FCInterNews.

43-year-old referee Irrati has been refereeing matches at the Serie A level since the the 2011-12 season. He made his debut in the top flight in a clash between Bologna and Chievo Verona.

Irrati has refereed in Serie B since 2011 as well. The Italian official has also refereed matches in the Champions League and the Europa League.

The 43-year-old also referees in international football. Irrati was one of the VAR officials at the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia.

This season, Irrati has not been involved in any Inter matches.

Irrati’s most recent Nerazzurri match was a 1-0 win away to Juventus in Serie A last April.

Assisting Irrati in his duties will be Ciro Carbone and Alessandro Lo Cecero. Meanwhile, the role of fourth official will be filled by Michael Fabbri.

In the VAR room, Paolo Mazzoleni will oversee the match to ensure that any errors made by the on-pitch crew are corrected. He will be assisted in his duties by Valerio Marini and Sergio Ranghetti.

The Nerazzurri will be hoping that the focus stays on the action on the pitch as they aim to defend their Coppa Italia crown from last season.

Last season, the Nerazzurri beat Juventus in the final of the competition to secure the trophy. Inter needed extra time to prevail in a 4-2 thriller.

This time around, Inter face Fiorentina at the Stadio Olimpico.

The Nerazzurri beat the likes of Parma, Atalanta, and Juventus to reach the final. Meanwhile, La Viola overcame Sampdoria, Torino, and Cremonese.
