Edin Dzeko will start in attack for Inter Milan in tomorrow evening’s Coppa Italia final against Fiorentina.

This according to today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, via FCInterNews, who also report that the Bosnian’s fellow veteran Samir Handanovic will start the match in goal.

Inter coach Simone Inzaghi will have a number of decisions to make at the Stadio Olimpico.

Perhaps the question to have received the most attention is which of Dzeko or Romelu Lukaku will start alongside Lautaro Martinez leading the line.

The coach has taken a very specific approach in recent matches. Martinez and Dzeko have started in midweek. Then, on the weekend, it’s been the turn of Romelu Lukaku and Joaquin Correa.

However, Lukaku has also been making a real case for himself to figure more prominently. The Belgian put in a MOTM display against Sassuolo, whilst he also scored in a recent 1-3 loss to Napoli.

On the other hand, though, Dzeko seems to be back to his best, particularly in big matches. The Bosnian former Manchester City man put in an outstanding performance against AC Milan in the Champions League semifinal first leg.

Edin Dzeko Favourite To Start For Inter Vs Fiorentina

According to the Corriere, Dzeko is the clear favourite.

The 37-year-old former Manchester City and Roma star is likely to retain the trust of his coach from the start.

Lukaku can come on from the bench, but according to the Corriere, the starting pair of Dzeko and Martinez will be the one that Inzaghi sticks with.

Meanwhile, the newspaper also confirm reports that Handanovic will start.

The 38-year-old is likely to leave the Nerazzurri this season. This would end an eleven-year association with the club.

Inzaghi is set to reward his captain with a start, likely his final opportunity to win silverware as a starter.
