Inter Milan are set to make the contract extension of midfielder Hakan Calhanoglu official shortly after the Champions League final.

This according to Italian news outlet FCInterNews, who report that everything is worked out on a new four-year deal for the 29-year-old, and that pen will be pun to paper and an official announcement made after next month’s clash with Manchester City in Istanbul.

It has been reported for some time that Inter and Calhanoglu are close to agreeing a new contract.

The former AC Milan and Bayer Leverkusen star’s current deal runs out at the end of next June. However, Inter don’t want things to get anywhere near that point without his future being secured on a new deal.

Inter Continue Talks With Agent Of Hakan Calhanoglu Regarding New Contract

According to FCIN, Calhanoglu’s agent Gordon Stipic has been in Milan over the past few days.

The agent was in attendance at the San Siro for the Nerazzurri’s Champions League semifinal second leg win over AC Milan.

This was certainly a personally significant win for Calhanoglu in particular. The Turkish international got revenge over his former side the Rossoneri to help his current team into European club football’s most important match.

That win over Milan also underlined just how much Calhanoglu now feels that he belongs at Inter.

The 29-year-old has become a crucial player for the Nerazzurri. Seemingly one match at a time, he has become more and more central to the Nerazzurri over the past few seasons.

According to FCIN, a new contract is close. Inter and Stipic have continued the talks.

The only thing left now is for everything to be made official. FCIN report that that should come next month.

According to the Italian outlet, Inter will make the announcement not long after the Champions League final.
