Inter Milan are “very interested” in signing Barcelona defender Andreas Christensen this summer.

This according to Sky Sport Italia transfer market expert Gianluca Di Marzio, who told Danish news outlet SkillXperten that the 27-year-old is a player the Blaugranas don’t want to lose, but that they could be forced to sell him, and that the Nerazzurri are keen.

Christensen only joined Barcelona last summer.

The Dane made the move from Chelsea to the Camp Nou on a free transfer.

Christensen has settled in well in his first season in La Liga, becoming an important part of the Blaugranas’ backline. Christensen has helped Xavi’s team to win the Spanish title in his first campaign at the club.

However, financial issues could mean that Barcelona have to make a big sale of a player like Christensen this summer.

Accordingly, if the Dane were to be on his way during the transfer window, Inter could sit up and take notice.

Di Marzio: Inter Keen On Barcelona Defender Andreas Christensen

Christensen was reportedly one of the players who Inter Sporting Director Piero Ausilio inquired about in a recent meeting with his Barcelona opposite number Mateu Alemany.

It’s not secret that the Nerazzurri will be looking for defensive reinforcements in the summer. The looming departure of Milan Skriniar leaves a void in Inter’s backline.

Di Marzio explained the situation with Christensen.

“Andreas Christensen has done an incredible job at Barcelona and they want to keep him,” he said. “But a lot of clubs are interested in him at the moment because of their financial situation.”

“A lot of Italian clubs want to do everything to get, and especially Inter is very interested in him.”

“They have wanted to get him for a long time now but I don’t think that Barcelona wants to let him go,” Di Marzio continued.

The Sky transfer expert noted that “It depends on the offer and if a club offers Barcelona €70 million, Barcelona will probably have to think about letting him go.”

“But he is definitely not one of the players that they want to sacrifice right now.”
