Inter Milan coach Simone Inzaghi is beaming with pride after guiding the Nerazzurri to a second straight Coppa Italia win.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster SportMediaset after beating Fiorentina 2-1 in the final at the Stadio Olimpico, via FCInterNews, the coach stressed that now it’s time for Inter to shift their focus to Serie A and then to facing Man City in Istanbul.

Inter have won the first of two pieces of silverware on offer in the run-in of the season.

After having broken a drought that had lasted more than a decade to win the Coppa Italia last season, they’ve now gone back-to-back in the competition.

Inzaghi has once again confirmed his reputation as “king of cup competitions.”

However, the coach and his players will hardly have time to rest on their laurels. In only three days’ time, the second last match of the Serie A season against Atalanta awaits them.

Then, there is the final match in the league, against Torino. In these last two matches, Inter still have work to do securing themselves a top four spot in the table.

Lastly, next month, the Nerazzurri will face perhaps the biggest match of their season – the Champions League final against Manchester City.

Inter Coach Inzaghi – Proud Of Coppa Italia, Now Time For Serie A & Man City

“I’m happy,” Inzaghi said after the match. “We wanted to confirm last season’s win.”

“We came up against a top-quality side who caused us problems,” he continued.

“Initially, we didn’t have the right approach, but then the guys did well to turn it around and score two goals.”

“Then Fiorentina got back in it,” Inzaghi added. “We’re happy to have beaten a top-class team.”

“Now we have the league again, and then Istanbul,” the coach said. “Let’s see what happens.”

Inzaghi was also asked about the match-winning performance of striker Lautaro Martinez, noting that “Lautaro did very well just as his teammates did, I’m happy with what I saw from everyone.”
