Inter Milan wingback Federico Dimarco is happy that the Nerazzurri have managed to go back-t0-back in the Coppa Italia.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster SportMediaset after this evening’s Coppa Italia final win over Fiorentina, via FCInterNews, the 25-year-old expressed his pride at the team having successfully defended their crown from last season.

Inter had gone eleven years without winning the Coppa Italia prior to last season’s victory.

Last time around, the Nerazzurri triumphed over Juventus in a 4-2 thriller at the Stadio Olimpico.

This time it was Fiorentina who stood in Inter’s way.

Whilst it didn’t quite have the same kind of eye-catching scoreline as last season’s final, this final was hardly less exciting.

The Nerazzurri were pegged back very early on, with Viola winger Nico Gonzalez finding the back of the net in just the third minute of the match.

However, Inter fought back, and a Lautaro Martinez brace saw them go in level at the half.

Then, in the second half, La Viola pushed to get back into the result. Inter had plenty of defending to do, and a couple of major scares.

However, the Nerazzurri held on.

As Massimiliano Irrati blew his final, Inter’s status was confirmed – the Nerazzurri have now made it two in the Coppa Italia.

Dimarco: Not Easy For Inter Milan To Win Coppa Italia Twice In A Row

Last season, Inter had to go through Empoli, Roma, and AC Milan before facing Juventus in the final. This time around, it was a path of Parma, Atalanta, and the Bianconeri which saw Inter get to this evening’s match at the Stadio Olimpico.

“We knew we were up against a top-class team,” Dimarco said of facing La Viola this evening. “It means a lot to us because it’s never easy to repeat a win.”

“We’re delighted to have done so,” Dimarco said. “Now we’ll focus on the next couple matches and then prepare for the last final of the season.”

“I dedicate the victory to my family and to these fans,” Dimarco said. “They follow us everywhere, and are very important to us.”
