Inter Milan striker Lautaro Martinez has joined a group with Erling Haaland, Roberto Lewandowski, and Kylian Mbappe with his goal in Saturday evening’s Serie A victory over Atalanta.

This is highlighted in today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews, who note that the Argentine became just the fourth player to score more than twenty goals in each of the past two seasons by finding the back of the net against La Dea.

Going into Saturday’s match, Martinez was on twenty Serie A goals.

Last season, the Argentine had scored a total of 21 in the league.

Therefore, with his goal to seal the win against La Dea, Martinez equalled his total from last campaign.

In doing so, Martinez made it two seasons in a row in which he’s exceeded twenty goals in the league alone.

Additionally, the 25-year-old took his total across all competitions to 28. Last time around, Martinez had scored a total of 25 goals in all competitions.

Lautaro Joins Haaland, Lewandowski & Mbappe With Atalanta Striker

As the Gazzetta highlights, only three other players had already scored over twenty league goals in the league alone, at least in terms of Europe’s top five leagues.

The first of these is Manchester City striker Erling Haaland.

Last season, the Norwegian had scored 22 goals in the Bundesliga for Borussia Dortmund. This season, he struck 36 times for Man City in the Premier League.

Meanwhile, there’s Barcelona marksman Robert Lewandowski.

The Pole made the switch from Bayern Munich to Barcelona last summer. Last summer he had scored 36 goals in the Bundesliga. This time around, the 34-year-old has managed 23 goals in La Liga.

The only other player with such a record is Paris Saint-Germain’s Kylain Mbappe.

The Frenchman has scored 28 goals in each of the past two Ligue 1 seasons with the Parisians.
