Inter Milan President Steven Zhang believes after securing Champions League for next season, the team can prepare for this season’s final against Man City.

Speaking to Sky Sport Italia reporters at the F1 Grand Prix in Monaco, via FCInter1908, the Nerazzurri President gave his thoughts ahead of next month’s final in Istanbul.

Inter have now completed their minimum objectives for the season.

After qualification for next season’s Champions League had looked at risk, the Nerazzurri have secured it. Saturday evening’s Serie A win over Atalanta made sure of that.

Now, Inter can start to think about the Champions League final against City on June 10.

Whilst there is still one more league match to go the pressure is all but off. Inter travel to Torino next weekend.

The pressure is also off for the final from a perspective of next season’s Champions League. Had Inter not secured a top four spot via Serie A, they’d have to beat City to secure Champions League spot.

Considering how vital participation in Europe’s top club competition is for Inter, this would mean enormous pressure.

Zhang: Inter Milan Can Turn Their Focus To Man City Now

Now, though, Inter can think about the final purely in terms of competitive prestige. It will still be a massively significant match.

However, the Nerazzurri have undoubtedly made life easier by securing a top four spot in the league.

Next month, Inter can prepare for the final in the Champions League knowing that they are one match away from glory.

Of being in the final, Zhang admitted that “At the beginning of the season, if I’m being honest, I would have found it hard to image.”

“Now, of course we’re ready, we have it in our hearts.”

“Clearly after [Saturday’s] win we can now start mentally preparing to go to Istanbul and be ready,” he added. “I’m sure our players are ready and focused.”
