Inter Milan and AC Milan are on high alert as French international defender Benjamin Pavard has asked to leave Bayern Munich during the summer transfer window.

This according to Italian news outlet Gazzetta.it, who report that the 27-year-old has told the Bavarian giants he wants a move.

Pavard has been on Inter’s radar for a few months now.

The 2018 World Cup winner was one of the main names linked as a Milan Skriniar replacement during the January transfer window of this season.

Inter reportedly made an offer to Bayern, but the German champions turned it down. According to the Gazzetta, Inter put a €20 million offer on the table, but were rebuffed.

In the end, Skriniar stayed put at Inter, whilst Pavard remained at Bayern.

However, the fact remains that Skriniar is leaving Inter to join Paris Saint-Germain this summer. Accordingly, the Nerazzurri will have to replace the Slovakian.

Reportedly, Pavard remains a “dream signing” to replace Skriniar like-for-like in the summer.

Inter & Milan Keen As Pavard Set For Bayern Exit

Bayern have been attempting to extend the contract of Pavard. As things stand, the Frenchman’s deal will keep him at the Allianz Arena until the end of next June.

However, according to the Gazzetta, Pavard has refused the Bavarians’ offers.

Rather, the defender wants to leave. Key to his decision is dissatisfaction at the way that he has been used tactically.

Pavard’s preference is to play at centre-back. However, throughout his time playing for Bayern the Frenchman has regularly been used as a right fullback.

Accordingly, the 27-year-old wants to move to a club where he’ll play at centre-back. This can either be in a back three, or a back four.

The Gazzetta report that Inter are ready to go back in for Pavard.

Meanwhile, their city rivals Milan could also see an opportunity to strengthen their defense by signing the French international.
