Defender Alessandro Bastoni, midfielder Nicolo Barella, and striker Lautaro Martinez have been three pillars of Inter Milan’s starting eleven between both Antonio Conte’s and Simone Inzaghi’s spells in charge.

This is highlighted in today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInter1908, who note that the trio are also seen as the future of the Nerazzurri’s team despite having accomplished so much with the team already.

There has been plenty of squad turnover at Inter between Conte’s and Inzaghi’s time in charge.

On the flanks, all of Achraf Hakimi, Ivan Perisic, and Ashley Young have departed. In their place Denzel Dumfries, Robin Gosens, and Federico Dimarco have arrived.

In midfield, Hakan Calhanoglu and Henrikh Mkhitaryan have replaced Christian Eriksen and Arturo Vidal. Joaquin Corea and Edin Dzeko have been signed to bolster the attack, whilst Alexis Sanchez departed.

And in goal, Andre Onana has taken the place of Samir Handanovic.

Bastoni, Barella, & Lautaro All Remain Important Players At Inter

Players like Romelu Lukaku, Marcelo Brozovic, and Stefan de Vrij remain at Inter from the Conte days. However, this season none of the trio have been in the first-choice starting eleven.

Three players who have, however, are Bastoni, Barella, and Martinez.

All three had been clearly in the first-choice starting eleven under Conte. The trio were vital components of the team that won the Serie A title in the 2020-21 season.

In fact, they had been key players even in Conte’s first campaign in charge, which saw Inter finish second in the league and Europa League runners-up.

The fact that all three have, if anything, only grown in importance, is a testament to a certain continuous thread between Conte and Inzaghi.

Moreover, at the ages of 24, 26, and 25 respectively, the trio are set to be central to the Nerazzurri well into the future.
