Inter Milan Vice-President Javier Zanetti has poured a lot of cold water on some recent transfer rumours linking Real Madrid with Nerazzurri striker Lautaro Martinez.

Speaking to Argentine broadcaster TyC Sports, via FCInterNews, Zanetti stressed that Martinez is happy at Inter. He also talked about two other Argentine players, Lionel Messi and Valentin Carboni.

In the past couple days, there have been one or two rumblings linking Martinez with Real.

Los Blancos could be in search of a new striker for next season. That would certainly be the case if Karim Benzema were to depart.

Inter superstar Martinez would perhaps be a logical name for the team from the Spanish capital to go after.

The 25-year-old has been in red hot form. This season he has won the World Cup, the Supercoppa Italiana, and the Coppa Italia. And he could still win the Champions League.

However, plenty of big clubs have been linked with Martinez in the past. Barcelona and Man City have been among them.

And the Argentine has always stayed at Inter.

Zanetti: Not Worried Real Madrid Could Sign Lautaro Martinez

Regarding the future of Martinez at Inter, Zanetti stated that “I’m calm because I see him all the time, and he’s happy here with us.”

He continued that “I’m not worried because I see what he represents.”

“We haven’t heard anything at all about the idea that Real Madrid are interested in him” the Inter Vice-President continued.

Zanetti also said of Martinez that “He has an immense mentality. He carries respect on and off the pitch.”

The Inter Vice-President was also asked about the possibility of Inter signing Lionel Messi from Paris Saint-Germain.

“Financial Fair Play would make that complicated,” he said.

“Right now Inter are doing things right,” he continued. “We’re undertaking a sporting and financial project that’s within our means.”

Zanetti admitted, “Who wouldn’t like to have Messi?”

“But we can’t sign him,” he continued. “Everyone loves Messi, but there are very few who can afford him.”

“Rightly so considering what he represents, and how much he’s worth.”

And of young attacking midfielder Valentin Carboni, Zanetti said that “He’s never stopped improving since he arrived.”

“This season he’s been a regular presence with the first team,” he said of the Argentine teenager. “He’s young, he’s humble, and he listens.”
