Agent Federico Pastorello has confirmed that defender Francesco Acerbi is not in the plans at Lazio and wants to stay at Inter Milan next season.
Speaking to Italian broadcaster DAZN, via FCInterNews, Pastorello also updated on the future of Nerazzurri defender Stefan de Vrij.
At the moment, Acerbi’s future is up in the air.
The 35-year-old has been on loan at Inter since last summer. Acerbi joined the Nerazzurri on a one-year loan deal on the final day of the transfer window.
However, that loan deal will expire at the end of this month.
Acerbi has already agreed personal terms with Inter on a two-year contract. However, what is needed now is for the Nerazzurri to agree a deal with Lazio to sign him permanently.
Reportedly, there is a €4 million purchase option in Acerbi’s loan deal. However, Inter would hardly be keen to pay that amount to sign Acerbi.
Pastorello: Acerbi Not In The Plans At Lazio & Wants Inter Milan Stay
Key to the situation could be Acerbi’s will.
The defender left Lazio last summer after one season playing under Maurizio Sarri. He had not really fit in well under the current Biancocelesti coach, and was replaced by incoming defenders like Nicolo Casale and Alessio Romagnoli last summer.
As such, it seems unlikely that Acerbi would have any desire to return to the Stadio Olimpico next season.
Moreover, it would not appear likely that Lazio will want Acerbi back.
Pastorello made clear that “Acerbi isn’t in the plans at Lazio, and he wants to stay at Inter.”
De Vrij Contract Talks Set For End Of Season
Pastorello also spoke briefly about the future of another of his clients, Inter defender Stefan de Vrij.
Asked about the Dutchman’s future, Pastorello replied that “We’ll talk about his contract after the end of the season.”
The Nerazzurri have two more matches left to go – against Torino in Serie A and then Manchester City in the Champions League final,
