Inter Milan defender Stefan de Vrij feels that there will be no lack of motivation in this evening’s Serie A match against Torino.

Speaking to InterTV ahead of the match, via FCInterNews, the Dutchman stressed that placement in the table is still an important motivation for the Nerazzurri to try and take three points on the final day of the season.

Inter have already completed their most important objective in Serie A with a match to spare.

Last weekend’s win over Atalanta ensured that the Nerazzurri will finish in the top four table.

Inter have known that the title is beyond their grasp for months now. However, they have at least made sure that they will be in the Champions League next season.

However, this does not mean that this evening’s match against Torino is nothing more than a dead rubber.

Inter can move ahead of Lazio with three points, if the Biancocelesti slip up.

Alternatively, a loss would open the door for AC Milan to move above them.

Finishing second, third, and fourth in the Serie A table is hardly a meaningless distinction. Moreover, the Nerazzurri will want to head into the Champions League final against Man City next weekend with momentum.

Inter Defender De Vrij: Motivated To Play Well & Win Vs Torino

There’s no doubt that this match is not the main priority for Inter. At least not in the grand scheme of things.

However, it is still a league fixture. And a chance to end a Serie A campaign that has been erratic at times on a high note.

From the perspective of Nerazzurri defender de Vrij, there is no question regarding the team’s motivation.

“We want to keep doing well,” he said, “to win, to keep the positive energy going, and maybe even move up in the table.”

“The motivation is there and we want to do well.”

De Vrij noted that “Torino are a strong team with good players. They play good football as well, but we want to bring the result home.”
