Inter Milan assistant coach Massimiliano Farris has updated that the goal is to have Henrikh Mkhitaryan fit against Man City.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster DAZN ahead of this evening’s match against Torino, via FCInterNews, the Nerazzurri assistant coach also explained that Federico Dimarco is being rested in view of the Champions League final against City.

Inter play one more league match, and then the big one.

The Nerazzurri will hope to sign off in Serie A with three points. Then, they travel to Istanbul to face Manchester City for European club football’s biggest prize.

City are intensely formidable opponents, as they underlined with their win over Manchester United in the FA Cup final.

Accordingly, Inter will be keen to have key players fit and firing to face the Cityzens.

Two players who have been central to the Nerazzurri’s Champions League run so far are midfielder Mkhitaryan and wingback Dimarco.

Neither are in the squad against Torino. Mkhitaryan wasn’t expected to be, due to injury. Dimarco’s absence, on the other hand, comes as a little more of a surprise.

Farris: Inter Aiming To Have Mkhitaryan Available Vs Man City

Inter assistant coach Farris was asked about the pair.

Regarding midfielder Mkhitaryan, currently out with a thigh problem, he said that “Mkhi is progressing, tour he goal is to bring him to Istanbul.”

And of Dimarco, he said that “Federico is dealing with a bit of fatigue. Particularly considering we don’t have any particular need to win in the league, we preferred to rest him.”

“He’ll be back in training with us on Monday,” Farris said of Dimarco.

Of the fact that Romelu Lukaku and Lautaro Martinez start against Torino, Farris said that “We’ve made our decisions to try and have a high-quality attack. It would’ve been the same if we’d gone with Edin and Correa from the start.”

“The attackers have given us a big hand in reaching our goals,” he continued. “We’ve gotten back on track in the league, won the Coppa Italia. Now we want to finish off the league well, and then think about the Champions League final.”
