Stefan de Vrij is set to start for Inter Milan in this evening’s Serie A match against Torino.

This according to Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia, via FCInterNews, who report that the Dutchman will be part of a heavily-rotated Nerazzurri starting eleven for their final league match of the season.

Inter have just one more league match to go this season, away to Torino.

Whilst they’ll want to end the season with a win, beating the Granata is not necessarily the Nerazzurri’s priority.

The Champions League final against Manchester City looms. Inter will face the Premier League champions for a chance to win European club football’s biggest prize in just one week.

Accordingly, some significant squad rotation is likely this evening.

In defense, this will mean that former Lazio and Feyenoord defender de Vrij is likely to start.

The 31-year-old is no longer the regular first-choice option in the centre of back three. That designation belongs to Francesco Acerbi.

However, Acerbi could be rested this evening. In his place, de Vrij will get an opportunity to start.

De Vrij Not The Only Squad Rotation Expected From Inter Milan

De Vrij will not be the only player who comes into Inter’s starting eleven this evening, however.

According to Sky, midfielder Roberto Gagliardini will also start in his final Serie A match as an Inter player. The 29-year-old’s contract with the Nerazzurri expires at the end of this month.

It’s uncertain where Gagliardini will go when his deal runs out. However, he still has one more league fixture to go wearing a Nerazzurri shirt.

Sky also anticipate that Robin Gosens will start on the left flank for Inter. Federico Dimarco will be rested.

In attack, Sky report that Lautaro Martinez and Romelu Lukaku will start for the Nerazzurri. Meanwhile, Edin Dzeko will come off the bench during the match.
