Inter Milan President Steven Zhang wants a real “spirit of 2010” at the Champions League final, and has invited Treble-winning former President Massimo Moratti and several legends from the previous Europe-conquering squad to the match.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews.

Inter are hoping to make history in Istanbul next weekend.

If the Nerazzurri can manage to beat Manchester City, they’ll secure the Champions League for the fourth time in their history.

Zhang could be the third President to win it with Inter – and the first not with the last name Moratti.

Legendary former President Massimo Moratti was at the helm in 2010. That season the Nerazzurri won the Champions League under Jose Mourinho, completing the European Treble.

That Treble had been the culmination of a lengthy and illustrious period in which Moratti was President.

Previously, his father Angelo had also won the European Cup twice with Inter in the 1960s.

Inter President Zhang To Bring Moratti To Istanbul

Accordingly, it is little surprise that Zhang wants Moratti in Istanbul next Saturday.

The former President has always been something of a mentor to Zhang. When the Chinese businessman took over at a very young age in 2017, he always looked to model himself after the legendary former President.

Now, naturally, he wants to follow that up with a big triumph in Europe.

As such, he’ll want Moratti there with him to experience the final. Win or lose, both the current and former President will feel the full stakes of Saturday’s match.

Moreover, Moratti isn’t the only former Inter President who’ll be in Istanbul.

Ernesto Pellegrini never won the Champions League with the Nerazzurri. However, he was at the helm for two UEFA Cup triumphs.

Additionally, Xhang will also bring several former players from the iconic team that won the 2010 Champions League final.
