Inter Milan defender Alessandro Bastoni feels that rather than being a Guardiola-style player, he’s a Simone Inzaghi player.

Speaking in a press conference, as reported by FCInterNews, the 23-year-old gave his response to the notion that his style of play is in line with that of Champions League final opponent City’s coach Guardiola.

In recent seasons, Bastoni has been an integral player to Inter’s style of play.

The defender is renowned for his ability to play the ball out from the back, either with passing or dribbling.

Moreover, the 23-year-old has been a prolific provider of assists for his teammates with his pinpoint deliveries into the penalty area.

This would certainly put him in line with Cityzens coach Pep Guardiola’s vision of football. Therefore, it is perhaps no surprise that Man City have been linked with a move for Bastoni.

However, the 23-year-old, who is close to a contract extension at Inter, feels that he is in fact perfect playing under the coach he is.

Bastoni: “Guardiola? I Feel Like A Simone Inzaghi Player”

Bastoni noted that “In terms of characteristics, I mirror Guardiola’s style of play. But now I feel more like an Inzaghi player than ever before.”

“I’m happy to be at Inter,” he continued. “Nobody believed in us, but I’m not interested in proving anything to anyone, apart from the club and my teammates.”

Asked what he took from playing in the Europa League final against Sevilla in 2020, Bastoni replied that “Us players are all different. I was 20.”

“We all have more experience now,” he noted. “And that makes the difference in Europe.”

“We were kids, now we’re men who know what they want, and we will prove it in Istanbul.”

Inter Not Afraid Of Anyone, Bastoni Says

Next, Bastoni was asked City players Inter are afraid of.

“You should be afraid of assassins, not of footballers,” he said. “It’s wrong to talk about fear, you need courage.”

Of City striker Erling Haaland, the 23-year-old said that “Haaland is a top-level player, but they have an infinite number of great players.”

“He said he went there to win the Champions League, now we’ll see how to stop him.”

“I saw a video of him in the semifinal against Real, who did well to stop him,” he said. “It’s not Haaland against Inter, but Inter against City.”
