Inter Milan striker Lautaro Martinez feels that the Nerazzurri have respect for Champions League final opponents Man City, but that that goes both ways.

Speaking to Brazilian broadcaster TNT Sports Brazil, via FCInterNews, the Argentine gave his thoughts ahead of Saturday’s final in Istanbul.

Inter will know that they face one of their most formidable challenges of the season up against this Manchester City team.

The Cityzens have just finished winning the Premier League for the fifth time in six seasons. They have seen off tough competition from Arsenal to do so.

Moreover, City have had a relentless path to the Champions League final.

Emphatic wins over RB Leipzig, Bayern Munich, and Real Madrid underline how tough a test Inter will be up against.

However, on the other side of things, the Nerazzurri’s own path in Europe will give City much to think about.

Inter saw off a strong Barcelona side to get out of a “group of death.” Then, the Nerazzurri demonstrated their quality as well as toughness and unity to get past Porto, Benfica, and AC Milan.

Lautaro Martinez: Man City & Inter Milan Must Have Mutual Respect

Inter striker Lautaro Martinez said that “We respect City, who have great players. But we know they respect us too, they’ll be worried about what we can do.”

“We’ll try to prepare for the match in the best way possible during the week,” he continued. “Saturday will be a very special day.”

“It’s been a complete season,” he continued. “A great season.”

“I’m thinking about Saturday’s match, which will be the most important match you can play at club level.”

“We’re very happy, focused, and excited.”

“We’re dreaming of this match, we want to prepare for it in the best way possible and approach it the way we have to.”

“We think about personal awards later,” he said of putting the team above individual accolades like the Ballon D’Or. “First I put the team goals, then we’ll see.”
