Simone Inzaghi is keen to bring Lazio midfielder Sergej Milinkovic-Savic to Inter Milan this summer.
This according to Italian broadcaster SportItalia, via FCInterNews, who report that the Nerazzurri coach has marked the 28-year-old out as a major target for the summer, as Lazio brace for a summer sale and slap a €35 million price tag on their star man.
SportItalia report that Milinkovic-Savic has almost certainly played his final match in a Lazio shirt.
The Serb joined the Biancocelesti from Genk in 2015, but will now likely leave after eight seasons.
Milinkovic-Savic’s current contract with Lazio runs out at the end of next June. The Biancocelesti offered the midfielder a new deal, but he is not planning to sign an extension.
Accordingly, the capital club will look to cash in while they have the chance.
Lazio would have no intention of losing Milinkovic-Savic on a free transfer next summer. As such, the 28-year-old will likely depart for a fee in the upcoming transfer window.
Given the 28-year-old’s contract situation, SportItalia report that Lazio will listen to offers of around €35 million.
Simone Inzaghi Wants Sergej Milinkovic-Savic At Inter Milan
Milinkovic-Savic is already a long-term target for the Nerazzurri.
This is particularly the case given that coach Simone Inzaghi, who had worked with Milnikovic-Savic at Lazio for five seasons, would consider the midfielder a “dream signing.”
According to SportItalia, the coach will ask that his club make an effort to sign the Serbian international this summer.
Inzaghi had worked for Milinkovic-Savic for more than five seasons whilst he had been in charge of the Biancocelesti.
The 47-year-old has no doubt of the midfielder’s match-winning qualities. He feels that Milinkovic-Savic would be the ideal summer signing to inject quality into the Nerazzurri’s midfield.
Inter will be far from the only suitors for Milinkovic-Savic, however.
With Lazio set to sell their star midfielder, numerous clubs are on high alert, including from the Premier League.
