Marcelo Brozovic is the favourite to start for Inter Milan against Man City even though Henrikh Mkhitaryan is back in training.

This according to Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia, via FCInterNews, who report that the 30-year-old Croatian international is slightly ahead to start in the Champions League final, although Nerazzurri coach Simone Inzaghi should have a full compliment of midfielders available.

According to Sky, Mkhitaryan‘s fitness looks good in view of the Champions League final.

The 34-year-old is back in training, and has not had any trouble getting back to the pace of a full session with the squad.

Former Roma and Arsenal midfielder Mkhitaryan had been recovering from a thigh injury. He missed Inter’s final three Serie A matches of the season as well as the Coppa Italia final against Fiorentina.

However, Mkhitaryan should be fully fit for the final against City.

This is a crucial boost for Inter. The ex-Giallorossi man has been a key man all season.

Mkhitaryan has made a total of 48 appearances across all competitions. His influence in balancing the midfield trio has been key, particularly in big matches such as the Champions League.

Marcelo Brozovic Still Favourite To Star Vs Man City

According to Sky, however, just because Mkhitaryan is fit, doesn’t mean that he’ll start.

There are still one or two questions about the Armenian’s match-fitness.

As such, the broadcaster anticipates, there is a good chance that Brozovic will be the one to start.

For much of the season, the situation has been very much reversed.

Injury problems have limited that amount that Brozovic has been able to be on the pitch for Inter. In his absence, Mkhitaryan has become a key player.

However, in recent weeks, Brozovic is back to his best.

One way or the other, Inter coach Inzaghi will be very happy to have a full compliment of midfielders at his disposal. However, at the moment, the coach appears inclined towards starting Brozovic and then having Mkhitaryan available from the bench.
