Inter Milan are ready to accelerate their interest in signing Monza wingback Carlos Augusto during the summer transfer window.

This according to Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia, via FCInterNews, who report that the Nerazzurri are laying the groundwork for a move for the 24-year-old in case Robin Gosens departs during the window.

Yesterday reports emerged that Inter are eyeing up a move for Monza breakout star Carlos Augusto.

The Brazilian is reportedly on the Nerazzurri’s radar for their list of possible replacements if Robin Gosens leaves.

The former Atalanta man is reportedly a target for all of Wolfsburg, Borussia Monchengladbach, Eintracht Frankfurt, and Bayer Leverkusen in the Bundesliga.

Whilst Gosens has gotten a foothold in the team in recent weeks, he is not first-choice ahead of Federico Dimarco.

As such, it’s hardly out of the question that the 28-year-old could be sold if the right offer comes along. Moreover, the player could well accept a move if it means more playing time.

Were Gosens to leave, Inter want to be ready to replace him right away.

Inter Milan Serious About Monza Star Carlos Augusto

According to Sky, Inter would make Augusto their main target to take the place of Gosens like-for-like.

The broadcaster reports that the Nerazzurri have already approached Monza about the 24-year-old. They have made clear that their interest in signing him is serious.

Gosens leaving would certainly be a necessary precondition for Augusto to be signed.

As long as both the German as well as Federico Dimarco are in the team, left-wingback is hardly a priority position for Inter.

However, if Inter do accept an offer for Gosens, they do not want to be left scrambling to replace him.

The Nerazzurri are already pushing to have deal ready for Augusto.

This season, Augusto has scored six goals and made five assists in Serie A.
