Inter Milan have identified Valencia goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili as an alternative to Empoli’s Guglielmo Vicario to replace Andre Onana.
This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews, who report that the 22-year-old Georgian international is on the Nerazzurri’s radar for the possible event that Onana is sold to Chelsea.
The Corriere confirm widespread reports that Premier League giants Chelsea are pushing to sign Inter goalkeeper Onana.
According to the newspaper, the Nerazzurri won’t listen to any offers below €50 million. Alfredo Pedulla has reported that the Nerazzurri’s asking price for Onana is in fact as high as €60 million.
One thing that is clear is that if Onana is to head for the exit door, Inter will have to replace him.
Empoli star Guglielmo Vicario is the Nerazzurri’s major target to replace the Cameroonian, and has been for some time.
However, the Corriere report, Inter are also looking elsewhere for possible goalkeeping targets.
Inter Milan Could Move For Valencia Star Mamardashvili As Onana Replacement
According to the Corriere, Valencia breakout star Mamardashvili is also a player Inter are tracking.
The 22-year-old has enjoyed a real breakout season with Valencia during the campaign just gone.
In the prior season, his first after joining from Dynamo Tblisi, Mamardashvili had shared goalkeeping duties at Los Che with Jasper Cillessen and Jaume Domenech.
However, this time around, the Georgian has been the clear first-choice. He has started every one of Valencia’s 38 matches in the league.
Mamardashvili has earned a reputation as one of La Liga’s best goalkeepers based on the season just gone.
Chelsea themselves reportedly see Mamardashvili as an alternative to Onana to solve their goalkeeping issues.
However, Onana is the Blues’ first-choice target. Accordingly, they will in all likelihood push to sign the Cameroonian.
If Inter do accept a bit for Onana, they could then go for the young Valencia keeper themselves.
