There is no truth to rumours that Inter Milan star Nicolo Barella could join Newcastle United this summer.

This according to Italian news outlet Calciomercato.com, who report that despite a report from UK media that the Magpies are pushing to sign the 26-year-old, the player’s agent has not spoken with any clubs, and there are no serious talks between the clubs.

Earlier this evening, a report emerged from UK outlet the Telegraph, claiming that Newcastle are trying to sign Inter midfielder Barella.

The report claimed that the Premier League side were offering around £50 million. Barella, it suggested, is one of Newcastle’s major targets in midfield to strengthen for the Champions League, along with Leicester City’s James Maddison.

However, this report has been rubbished within Italian media.

Calciomercato have poured significant cold water. The outlet reports that Barella’s agent has said that there are no talks for the former Cagliari man.

Inter Milan Star Nicolo Barella Not Close To Newcastle United Despite Rumours

At the moment, Barella is with the Italian national team. The Azzurri are gearing up for tomorrow evening’s Nations League semifinal against Spain.

According to Calciomercato, the 26-year-old’s plan is to speak with Inter about his future when he returns from international duty.

As things stand, Barella has zero intention of leaving Inter this summer.

He remains an important part of the Nerazzurri’s plans, and there is no Newcastle move imminent that would change that.

Barella Has Been A Target For EPL Clubs In The Past

Newcastle aren’t the first Premier League clubs to have been linked with Barella.

Liverpool are reportedly keen on the Nerazzurri star as part of their summer midfield revamp.

Additionally, the likes of Chelsea, Manchester United, and Manchester City are reportedly very interested.

However, in spite of these persistent links and transfer rumours, Barella has always stayed put at Inter.
