Former Roma and Manchester City striker Edin Dzeko is close to leaving Inter Milan to join Fenerbahce on a free transfer.

This according to today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, via FCInterNews. The newspaper report that the 37-year-old is ready to sign a two-year deal worth €5 million net per season with the Istanbul giants.

Dzeko’s current contract with Inter runs out at the end of this month.

The Nerazzurri have offered the Bosnian international a new deal to stay another season. However, Inter’s offer is only for a one-season extension.

Reportedly Dzeko is not convinced by the Nerazzurri’s offer of a new one-year deal. He feels that the club no longer see him as a central part of the project.

Accordingly, the Bosnian could look for a club where he will have more of guaranteed starting role rather than being principally a backup option.

According to the Corriere, Dzeko is now very much on the verge of leaving the Nerazzurri.

Moreover, the 37-year-old knows where his next club will be.

Fenerbahce have made a two-year contract offer to Dzeko. The Corriere report that the striker will earn around €5 million net per season if he signs with the Turkish side.

The Istanbul giants have met with the striker’s agent Alessandro Lucci to formally put their proposal on the table.

Fenerbahce want to make Dzeko a key signing in attack for next season, as they aim to dethrone Galatasaray for the Turkish title. And for his part, the Nerazzurri striker appears convinced by Fenerbahce’s offer and the place he would have in their project.

Dzeko is ready to sign his two-year deal with the Turkish club.

Since joining from Roma in 2021, Dzeko has made a total of 101 appearances for Inter in all competitions. He has scored 31 goals in the process.
