Sassuolo midfielder Davide Frattesi could further herald a “Made in Italy” revolution with his arrival at Inter Milan this summer.

This is the suggestion in today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews, who highlight what the Nerazzurri signing the 23-year-old could signify for their future.

Inter are still some way from completing the signing of Neroverdi star Frattesi.

However, the Gazzetta note, they are certainly the team leading the way in the chase for his signature.

A transfer looks all but inevitable for Frattesi this summer. The midfielder’s performances across his first two seasons in Serie A have made it clear that he’s ready for a move to a big club.

Moreover, recent performances for the national team have further bolstered Frattesi’s case.

The 23-year-old looked right at home playing in a midfield trio with Nicolo Barella during recent Nations League matches. Inter want to replicate that chemistry at club level.

Davide Frattesi Would Bolster “Made In Italy” Inter Milan

In the view of the Gazzetta, this hints at a further dimension of Inter’s plans.

The Nerazzurri have already developed a strong Italian contingent in their squad. Barella, Alessandro Bastoni, Francesco Acerbi, Federico Dimarco, and Matteo Darmian were all key starters on the way to the Champions League.

If Inter can keep that core together, and add Frattesi to the starting eleven, over half of the first-choice lineup would be Italian.

The Nerazzurri appear to be prioritizing a move for Frattesi for one reason. They feel that the 23-year-old is the next big Italian player, ready to take the step up.

Inter feel that Frattesi would be right at home in their starting eleven.

With his box-to-box qualities and increasing prowess in the final third and in front of goal, Frattesi could add another dimension to their team.

And the fact that Frattesi would link up with Italy teammates would not just benefit Inter.

The Gazzetta suggest that the midfielder’s presence could incubate new chemistry within the national team as well.
