Inter Milan are still interested in moving to sign Bayern Munich defender Benjamin Pavard this summer transfer window.

This according to today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, via FCInterNews, who report that the Nerazzurri continue to consider the 27-year-old French international a target, although Bayern will expect a significant fee.

It as though Pavard will leave Bayern this summer.

The 27-year-old former Stuttgart man’s contract with the German champions is set to run out at the end of June 2024.

Bayern have offered Pavard an extension. However, the players has made his decision clear – he will not sign a new deal.

This makes it likely that Bayern will cash in on Pavard during the summer transfer window.

The Bavarians will not want to lose the 2018 World Cup winner on a free transfer next summer.

Where Pavard will go is not clear, however. Moreover, the Corriere report that Bayern will not likely take any cut-price fees for the defender regardless of his contract situation, and are ready to demand a significant amount if he’s to leave this summer.

Inter Milan Still Keen On Bayern Munich’s Benjamin Pavard

Inter had already tried to get a deal done for him already in January when it looked as though Skriniar could be sold to Paris Saint-German. However, Skriniar stayed put and Pavard remained at Bayern.

However, this only delayed the inevitable – Skriniar will leave this summer. Inter are looking for a like-for-like replacement.

As such, the Nerazzurri are still keen on Pavard.

Signing a top-level defensive reinforcement to take the place of Skriniar is a priority for the summer. In this sense, Pavard would represent a like-for-like replacement.

However, there is the matter of agreeing a fee with Bayern to contend with.

Regardless of Pavard’s contract situation, the Bavarians will hold out for a big fee. It’s uncertain whether Inter are prepared to offer one.
