The interest of Liverpool, Chelsea & Newcastle United in midfielder Nicolo Barella is looming over Inter Milan this summer.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews, who describe the big English sides’ interest in signing the 26-year-old Italy superstar a “spectre” that could give the Nerazzurri one or two worries.

One thing looks clear – Barella is a player who Inter don’t want to sell.

The former Cagliari man is virtually the last player who the Nerazzurri would think about listening to offers for.

In each of his four seasons at the San Siro, Barella’s importance to the team has increased. Now, the Italian international is central to the team in every sense.

Moreover, Barella’s status as a fan favourite is unquestionable.

Liverpool, Chelsea & Newcastle Interest In Barella Hard For Inter To Ignore

However, irrespective of Inter’s intentions, the desire of big English clubs to sign Barella is hard to ignore.

Chelsea have already made one big money offer. The Blues have reportedly put €70 million on the table for the 26-year-old as part of their broader talks with the Nerazzurri.

This amount is still nowhere near enough to persuade Inter.

However, it is at least enough to unsettle the Nerazzurri, and remind them that there are clubs ready to push and try to sign away their star man in midfield.

Newcastle United are also keen on Barella as they look for reinforcements ahead of a season back in the Champions League. Inter have thoroughly rebuffed the Magpies’ initial offers though.

Liverpool are also reportedly keen on the Nerazzurri star as part of their summer midfield revamp.

Additionally, the likes of Manchester United, and Manchester City are reportedly very interested.

Clearly there is no lack of will to test Inter’s resolve regarding Barella.

Moreover, the Gazzetta notes, the 26-year-old’s agent Alessandro Beltrami has already been to England, presumably holding some meetings with English clubs. Big clubs in the Premier League are always ready to try and lay out the red carpet for Barella.

Beltrami will have related what English teams have said to the player. The project of Juergen Klopp’s Liverpool could particularly tempt Barella.

As of now, no English clubs have come close to breaking either Inter or Barella’s resistance.

However, it would be hard to rule out a stronger push from the Premier League, as the interest in signing the 26-year-old is without a doubt there.
