Finnish billionaire Thomas Zilliacus has dropped a potential hint about his intentions trying to buy a Serie A club amid Inter Milan takeover links.

Tweeting on the subject, the Finnish businessman explained that he wants the relationship with fans to be central to owning a club.

A couple of weeks ago, Reuters reported that Zilliacus is interested in buying Inter from Suning.

Reuters reporedt that two sources close to the process have confirmed that the Finnish entrepreneur’s interest is serious. The sources wish to remain anonymous.

According to the sources that Reuters spoke to, advisers will set a deadline for the final round of bidding within the next four weeks.

They suggest that a purchase of Inter could happen sometime towards the end of the summer.

For his part, Zilliacus has been coy on the rumours. However, the former Nokia executive has admitted that he is raising significant capital to invest in Serie A.

According to Zilliacus’s own admission, he is raising over €400 million to potentially buy a Serie A club.

This would still fall well short of Suning’s valuation for Inter.

It does, however, give a clear indication of Zilliacu’s intent. It certainly appears that he is serious about taking over a Serie A club, whether or not it is the Nerazzurri.

However, Zilliacus has not only made clear that he is hoping to make a big investment in Serie A.

He has also given a sense of what his aims are if he is to buy a club.

Zilliacus tweeted that “Many club owners are critisized by fans for lack of communication.”

“I see communication with fans as crucial. Without the fans there is no club.”

“They stay while owners come and go.”

“If XXI Century Football Capital becomes a club owner fan engagement will be central to our activity.”
