Romelu Lukaku remains on the books of Chelsea, but he’s determined to extend his second spell at Inter Milan.

The 30-year-old enjoyed a successful first run at the Giuseppe Meazza between 2019 and 2021. He rounded off his stint by leading the Nerazzurri towards the Scudetto title and winning the Serie A MVP award.

Nevertheless, his return to Chelsea in 2021 proved to be an ill-advised career step. The striker was desperate to leave West London shortly following his arrival.

He eventually completed his comeback to the Nerazzurri on a temporary deal. But with his loan stint about to expire, the Belgian’s future remains shrouded in mystery.

But despite interest from Saudi Arabian clubs, the former Everton and Man United bomber feels too young to leave European football.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport via FcInter1908, Lukaku will tell Chelsea that he only wants to play for Inter next season. The striker will even express his desire directly to club owner Todd Boehly if given the chance.

The source also adds that AC Milan have recently emerged as an unexpected suitor for the Belgium international.

But as the report explains, Lukaku is deeply attached to the blue half of the city. So he’s unlikely to “betray” his Inter supporters by joining their crosstown rivals.

However, Chelsea and Inter would have to find the right formula to complete this switch.

This season, Lukaku suffered from a slow start, but started showing glimpses of his former self by the end of the campaign.
