Inter Milan could look to sign young Lazio forward Luka Romero on a free transfer ahead of city rivals AC Milan.
This according to Italian news outlet Gazzetta.it, who report the Nerazzurri have met with the former Mallorca man’s agent.
Inter are already on the verge of winning one transfer battle with their city rivals Milan.
The Nerazzurri will reportedly seal a deal to sign Borussia Monchengladbach forward Marcus Thuram on a free transfer in the coming days. The Frenchman had also been a major target for the Rossoneri.
Milan had pushed for Thuram’s signature over the past few days. However, it is Inter who have made the more persuasive offer to the 25-year-old.
However, the Gazzetta report, Thuram is not the only Milan target who Inter could go after.
Reportedly, the Nerazzurri are also considering a move for Lazio’s teenage sensation Luka Romero. The 18-year-old is currently a target for Milan.
Inter Milan Hold Meeting With Agent Of Lazio Starlet Luka Romero
According to the Gazzetta, Inter Sporting Director Piero Ausilio met with the agent of Romero. He did so during his recent trip to London.
Argentine youth international Romero joined Lazio from Mallorca in the summer of 2021.
The 18-year-old has made a total of 21 appearances for Maurizio Sarri’s side over the past two seasons. He has scored one goal for the Biancocelesti in the process.
However, Romero looks set to depart from the Stadio Olimpico in the summer. Lazio are unable to agree a new deal with the player and his representatives.
Romero’s tactical versatility could be an asset for a team like Inter or Milan. The 18-year-old can play anywhere from as a second striker to attacking midfielder or even as a wingback.
The Rossoneri have sensed a free transfer opportunity for Romero given his contract situation. So, it seems, have Inter.
