Saudi Pro League club want to sign Inter Milan backup goalkeeper Alex Cordaz in a coaching role, joining Marcelo Brozovic.

This according to French news outlet Footmercato, via FCInterNews, who report that the Saudi team are keen on signing the veteran goalkeeper, but in a coaching role rather than in a playing role.

Barring any more late surprises, Al-Nassr will soon complete the signing of midfielder Brozovic from Inter.

The past week or so has seen a dramatic round of negotiations between the parties. However, everyone now looks to be on the same page, as the Nerazzurri have accepted a fee.

Brozovic will make the switch to Al-Nassr, signing a mega-money contract with the Saudi outfit.

However, Footmercato reports, the Saudi team may not be finished with their raid on Nerazzurri players.

Al-Nassr Want Inter Milan Veteran Alex Cordaz In A Coaching Role

40-year-old former Crotone goalkeeper Cordaz is no longer under contract with Inter.

His deal ran out at the end of last month. Whilst the Nerazzurri would reportedly by happy to extend the veteran’s contract, there is no certainty that this would happen.

When Cordaz joined Inter in the summer of 2021, it was always as a backup option. He has been the third-choice keeper during the season just gone.

The 40-year-old in fact made his first appearance in this spell at Inter during the team’s second last match of the season, and their final match in Serie A. Cordaz came off the bench in a 1-0 away win against Torino.

In any event, Cordaz’s role behind the scenes has been what he’s really at the club for.

However, the veteran may decide to try a new adventure.

Footmercato notes that the keeper is a personal friend of Brozovic. Therefore, he could decide to follow the 30-year-old Croatian international to Al-Nassr. This could assist in the settling-in process in a new league and country.

However, Cordaz would not arrive to play for the Saudi giants.

Rather, Footmercato reports, Al-Nassr want the Nerazzurri keeper to be the goalkeeping coach for their youth team.
