Former Nerazzurri coach Andrea Stramaccioni feels that Inter Milan new boy Davide Frattesi is top of the pile for young Italian midfielders.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster DAZN, via FCInterNews, the former coach reacted to the 23-year-old’s arrival at Inter.

It’s official – Frattesi is an Inter Milan player.

The Nerazzurri wrapped up the signing of the 23-year-old Italian international yesterday.

Inter have been chasing Frattesi for much of the summer transfer window so far.

It has taken a big effort by the Nerazzurri to get their man. However, their pursuit has been successful.

Now, the question is whether or not Frattesi will live up to expectations.

The lengths that Inter went to land the Azzurri star will certainly make sure that expectations are not low. Frattesi will be expected to make an impact commensurate to his fee and to the fact that Inter had to fend off competition for his signature.

Stramaccioni: Inter New Boy Davide Frattesi “Best Emerging Midfielder In Italy”

For his part, former Inter coach Stramaccioni has few doubts.

He believes that Frattesi is worth the hype.

Over the past two seasons at Sassuolo in particular, Frattesi has garnered a strong reputation for himself within Serie A. Then, he has also started to show his quality for the Italian national team.

This breakout star status is something that the 23-year-old will have to build upon in an Inter shirt.

And, Stramaccioni believes, he will be capable of doing just that.

“I know him well, being a product of Roma’s youth academy,” Stramaccioni said.

“In some ways, his career can be compared to that of Pellegrini, now Giallorossi captain,” he continued. “Davide hasn’t returned ‘home’, but has joined one of the top clubs in the world.”

“A club which in my view has signed the best Italian midfielder out of the ones who are still emerging.”\

“In midfield with Barella and Frattesi, Inter have assured their future for years to come,” Stramaccioni added.
